Well, today was my first day working at Lowes. There were only two downsides so I'll get them out of the way first--my desk consists of less than half a "cube" and I don't have a computer yet. Other than that, everything is fantastic. The facility is amazing, the people are very friendly and helpful, and the work looks like it will be very diverse and interesting. I'm essentially the newest member of a now 3-man team--Jay (product manager), Joe (senior designer), and Jonathan (myself, "contract design specialist.") Our area of responsibility consists of a range of "hardline" (i.e. functional, not decorative) products, everything from hand tools, to pressure washers, to pneumatic impact wrenches, to garage storage cabinets. Bottom line, I think it's going to be a great place to work. I definitely have to improve my sketching design process, but I'm excited about that, too.
Our first home is now officially for sale. It's the nicest & cleanest it has ever been which is ironic and slightly depressing. We're hoping it sells quickly [obviously], but we'll just have to wait and see. A group of realtors came through this morning for a "preview" and they thought the house had been professionally staged. Thanks HGTV! :)
